Assists with the implementation and enforcement of the Nebraska Noxious Weed Control Act and the Nebraska Seed Law in the northeast counties of the state by conducting routine inspections and county evaluations to determine compliance with state laws. Counties covered include:
Antelope, Blaine, Boone, Boyd, Brown, Burt, Cedar, Cherry, Colfax, Cuming, Custer, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Loup, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Rock, Stanton, Thurston, Valley, Washington, Wayne, Wheeler.

• Conduct survey and detection activities for noxious weeds.
• Conduct seed inspections, complaint inspections, and follow-up.
• Conduct noxious weed inspections, complaint inspections and follow-up.
• Evaluate county weed control programs and review annual reports.
• Conduct education and outreach activities with county weed superintendents, agricultural industries, the general public, and special interest groups.
• Attend local county board meetings.
• All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.

Minimum Qualifications:

Post high school coursework/training in agriculture, plant/animal or natural sciences, or other program related field OR a vocation certificate in electrical, mechanical, engineering or other program related field. AND Two years' experience working in a relevant discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in conducting regulatory inspections and working with the public.

Other:
This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Monday
- Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with optional flex schedule

Some overnight travel expected. Able to use computer and smart phone devices. Plant science, plant identification, or agronomy experience is preferred.
