Active participant of the Nebraska Rural Health Workforce Incentive Program that offers monetary incentives to select nursing professionals, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, in exchange for a service commitment to work in a rural county for a 5‑year period.
Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles for residents in the relevant clinical setting.
- Practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and utilize appropriate age and population‑specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as per the care plan.
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident’s status and provide the care needed.
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions and the outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public.
- Work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician, on prevention and treatment plans.
- Apply resident education principles to develop a self‑care program.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required.
- Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing board and/or possesses multi‑state licensure privileges.
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
