¿ s Peaking Stations and other facilities as needed.
This role offers a structured career path: you will develop comprehensive technical skills by completing the three
¿ year Peaking Station Technician Apprenticeship Program, which includes formal coursework and hands
¿ on training aligned with established Apprenticeship Program Standards. Successful candidates will also complete all station
¿ specific training and the Operations Training Program required for their assigned location(s), ensuring full readiness to operate and maintain critical District systems.
The Impact You Will Have
+ Perform orderly operation of generating units and equipment at the Peaking Stations.
+ Operate combustion turbines or reciprocating engines safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
+ Establish proper clearance of equipment for safe, event-free maintenance activities.
+ Maintain timely, accurate records that reflect plant activities/status.
+ Assist in writing work orders due to equipment deficiencies.
+ Assist with routine and preventive maintenance of all equipment, assist in major equipment maintenance, and support condition monitoring tasks, including routinely inspecting and testing the condition of equipment to assure proper function of all components.
+ Troubleshoot, document, and correct equipment and systems deficiencies, and perform work associated with maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
+ Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, document, and calibrate control systems and field instrumentation.
+ Participate in and complete housekeeping duties to uphold station standards.
+ Maintain test equipment and keep timely accurate records
What You Will Bring
Required:
+ Education Requirements
+ High School diploma or GED AND
+ Associated Degree in Electronics, Power Plants, or related field OR
+ Armed Services Formal Training Equivalent OR
+ Completion of Production Operations Training Program OR
+ Completion of related apprenticeship, OR
+ Pass Technical Occupation Test or equivalent as determined by Human Capital
+ Work Experience Requirements
+ 6 months experience as a helper (Only applies to Local 763 Peaking Station Tech Helpers) OR
+ 1 year experience in the operations group at the Equipment Operator or Equipment Operator
¿ Nuclear classification or above OR
+ 2 years
¿ experience in OPPD maintenance craft as apprentice or above OR
+ 1 year experience operating at a combustion turbine or peaking station site OR
+ Armed Services references related to Instrument & Control type work experience OR
+ Related construction trades experience
+ Craft Training Requirements
+ Instrument & Control Field Skills OR
+ Electronic Field Skills OR
+ Extensive Power Plant Systems Training
+ Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
+ A valid driver
¿ s license.
+ High degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude
Desired:
+ Troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
+ Understanding of computer-controlled processes, drawings, logic diagrams, and schematics
+ Experience in operating and maintaining combustion turbines or reciprocating engines
