Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Test Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah, Huntsville, Alabama or Bellevue, NE and will support the Sentinel Program. The role involves designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. The engineer conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.

Responsibilities include determining computer user needs; analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; preparing operating instructions; designing and developing compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems; ensuring software standards are met.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80.

• Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years at time of application.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
• 3+ years of experience working Software Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience with Java, C++, Python.

Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile development methodology.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
• Experience with IBM Rational tool suite (DOORS and Jazz).
• Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence).
• Experience using software test automation tools/frameworks.
• Experience with embedded software systems and integrating SW onto HW.
• Experience with writing and boarding test documentation including Software Test Plans, Software Test Procedures, and Software Test Reports.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor/lead junior engineers in completion of project goals.

Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus.
