Staff Accountant

Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role ensures the integrity of the general ledger through accurate journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and month-end close support. The ideal candidate brings a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This position is based on-site in the Greater Seattle Area.

• Perform daily cash reconciliation of bank accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare weekly cash position reports and assist with cash flow forecasting.
• Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606) and company policy.
• Record and reconcile daily revenue transactions across all channels (cash, credit card, ACH, wire).
• Prepare and post monthly revenue journal entries, including accruals and deferrals.
• Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue and accounts receivable subledgers.
• Assist with revenue reporting and variance analysis for monthly management packages.

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with the month-end close calendar.
• Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and investigate and resolve variances.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain organized work papers and documentation to support internal and external audits.
• Assist with annual external audit by providing requested schedules and supporting documentation.

• Identify opportunities to streamline revenue recording and cash reconciliation processes.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX requirements.
• Assist in the documentation and maintenance of accounting procedures and desk guides.
• Improve and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably with a focus on revenue or cash.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, particularly revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data reconciliation).
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Acumatica, Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting, and internal control concepts.
• Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a commitment to meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate in a clear, friendly, professional, and proactive manner.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment.
• CPA candidate or CPA license a plus.
• Be a team player, and willing to contribute beyond the defined role to meet business needs as circumstances require.
• Proven reliability of attendance.

Compensation range: $85,000 – $95,000 depending on experience. Pay may vary by location, and actual compensation depends on factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, and business needs.
