Position

Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate properties.

The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with property managers, owners, and accounting team members. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Prepare and assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting packages for property owners.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end close processes for assigned properties.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial statements.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company policies and owner requirements.
Property Accounting
  • Verify the accuracy of rent rolls and tenant information.
  • Prepare aged delinquency reports and monitor receivable balances.
  • Prepare and review tenant billings, including additional rent and CAM reconciliations.
  • Review and approve invoice coding for assigned properties.
  • Verify general ledger activity and investigate budget variances.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze operating results and budget variances.
  • Provide financial information and explanations to management and property owners upon request.
Cash Management & Asset Accounting
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and cash management activities.
  • Account for accruals, amortization, depreciation, and fixed assets.
  • Monitor and track capital expenditures and capital projects
  • Partner with property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with accounts payable and revenue specialists regarding assigned properties.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in commercial real estate property accounting and reporting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with MRI, Yardi, or other real estate accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
