Job Overview
Macro‑Modelling and Monetary Division of ICD is hiring Economist / Senior Economist positions to support capacity development in macroeconomic frameworks. The role involves delivering technical assistance to central banks and other macroeconomic institutions, developing training curricula, and conducting research to enhance policy analysis and forecasting tools.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver capacity‑development (CD) modules in macroeconomic frameworks, focusing on monetary policy, exchange‑rate policy, capital‑flows, and forecasting.
- Provide technical assistance in the use of now casting and near‑term forecasting tools, semi‑structural gap models and DSGE models to member countries.
- Conduct lectures, workshops and guided training sessions for country officials and IMF staff on macroeconomic and monetary policy.
- Engage in research and contribute to divisional and departmental projects.
- Deliver CD in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and/or Spanish (asset).
- Considerable graduate work in economics or an equivalent background.
- Strong academic and policy‑oriented background in macroeconomics and modelling.
- Excellent analytical, written and oral expository, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in EViews and MATLAB and knowledge of statistical and econometric techniques.
- Track record of teaching and research in macroeconomics, monetary policy, exchange‑rate policy and capital‑flow policies.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, with flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
- Practical experience in delivering technical assistance in macroeconomic and macro‑monetary frameworks.
- Experience with CDMAP or similar capacity‑building initiatives.
This is a one‑year contractual appointment, renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service pending performance, budget availability and continuous business need.
