Electronic Media Producer Specialist

Are you passionate about scientific communication and education? Do you have expertise in video editing and production? The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Youth Education and Outreach Program as an Electronic Media Producer Specialist. This position will support the development of a curriculum guide to the Teanaway Community Forest - a 50,241-acre landscape at the headwaters of the Yakima Basin watershed just outside of Cle Elum.

The curriculum will include short informational videos that correspond to each instructional module. Videos will feature DNR staff and partner organizations working to support the sustainable management of the Teanaway Community Forest. These videos will support student understanding of the complex management of the Teanaway, introduce career pathways in natural resources, and drive exploration around the collaboration between government agencies, Tribes, non‑profits, and industry.

The effort supports DNR's mission in two critical ways: by involving young people in the strategies and decision‑making processes we use to protect the health and productivity of Washington's land and waters and by preparing the next generation of natural resource professionals to tackle the challenges in our state's future. Help us bring the beauty and complexity of the Teanaway into K‑12 classrooms!

• Develop Videos and Public‑Facing Communication Materials:
  Communicates and coordinates with natural resource professionals working in the Teanaway Community Forest;
• Generate questions for filmed interviews about career pathways, natural resources management and collaborative decision‑making that support accessible content for audiences in grades 6‑12;
• Film and edit day in the life videos highlighting careers in natural resources;
• Film and edit interviews with partner organizations and DNR staff to support students in grades 6‑12 to understand land management decision‑making;
• Film video content highlighting the uniqueness and beauty of the Teanaway Community forest;
• Review curriculum on the Teanaway Community Forest developed by DNR’s Youth Education and Outreach Program and make recommendations on integration of video content;
• Market and distribute curriculum and videos: create graphics highlighting videos produced to support classroom instruction on natural resources management;
• Distribute and solicit feedback on informational videos and graphics to assess the effectiveness of the produced media;
• Integrate feedback from DNR staff, community partners, educators and students to improve video clarity, content, and engagement;
• Participate in teacher outreach events to introduce curriculum and video content, if available.

• Required Qualifications:
  
  Experience producing and editing professional videos;
• Experience with natural resources management;

$4,300.00 - $5,779.00 Monthly
