Job Description & How to Apply Below
At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery, and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Jacobs' Northwest Cities & Places team in Bellevue, WA is growing and strategically expanding key practice areas across the Northwest and broader West region. As part of this growth, we are strengthening our architectural design and delivery capabilities in transportation architecture, including transit stations, mobility hubs, passenger facilities, port-related architecture, and complex public infrastructure.
We are interested in candidates across a range of experience levels. This may include a strong local Project Architect with hands-on station design and regional agency experience, or a recognized transportation design architect with national or international expertise on major transit, rail, airport, port, or mobility infrastructure projects. Depending on candidate background and business needs, this opportunity may support more than one role.
As a Project Architect - Transportation / Transit Facilities on our Northwest Cities & Places team, you'll help grow and deliver architectural work for transit, transportation, and related civic infrastructure projects. You will contribute to design quality, technical delivery, client confidence, and Jacobs' growing position in transportation architecture.
The ideal candidate will bring meaningful experience with transportation facilities such as transit stations, passenger facilities, mobility hubs, port facilities, airport-adjacent buildings, operations/support facilities, or similar public infrastructure environments. A Bellevue, Washington office presence or strong regional connection to the Pacific Northwest will be important for client engagement, team collaboration, and practice growth.
Primary Responsibilities
* Lead and support architectural design and technical delivery for transportation-related projects, including transit stations, passenger facilities, mobility hubs, port facilities, and related infrastructure.
* Translate client, agency, operational, passenger-experience, accessibility, safety, security, sustainability, constructability, and maintenance requirements into clear architectural solutions.
* Monitors the design process from conceptual phase through documentation and construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed.
* Coordinate architectural work for technical resolution and coordination with other disciplines - civil, structural, MEP, rail/transit systems, security, way finding and interiors considering aspects of sustainability, cost, constructability, operation partners and other specialties' goals
* Support projects delivered through traditional delivery, design-build, progressive design-build, and P3 / public-private partnership models.
* Support client engagement, agency coordination, stakeholder communication, pursuit strategy, proposals, and interviews.
* Work to implement strategy for producing documents with project managers, designers, BIM leads, specification writers, and discipline leads to produce coordinated, high-quality and accurate deliverables.
* Help strengthen Jacobs' transportation architecture presence in the Northwest and support broader Western region opportunities.
* Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with Project Teams.

* 5-15 years' architecture experience
* Licensed Architect with current registration in Washington or ability to obtain reciprocity.
* Architectural experience with transportation, transit, civic infrastructure, airport, port, or complex public-sector projects i.e. transit station design, passenger facilities, mobility infrastructure, port facilities, airport-related facilities, or similar transportation environments working with public agencies, transportation authorities, port authorities, or comparable institutional clients.
* Demonstrated experience as a Project Architect, Senior Project Designer, Transportation Architect, or design leader on complex multidisciplinary projects.
* Familiarity with alternative delivery models, including design-build, progressive design-build, and P3 / public-private partnership project delivery.
* Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with BIM modeling and coordination workflows.
* Will not now or in the future require sponsorship for an employment visa (examples: H-1B, L-1B, TN, or other temporary visa status like OPT or F-1) to work for Jacobs in the U.S.
