Position Summary
Bellevue College's Occupational & Life Skills (OLS) program is seeking a qualified, equity-minded educator to serve as OLS Lead Faculty, a temporary, full-time faculty position within the Connected Learning Division. This role provides instructional leadership in a specialized associate degree program that supports students with disabilities and neurodivergent learners through inclusive, student-centered postsecondary education.
The OLS Lead Faculty carries a full instructional workload and contributes additional leadership within the scope of faculty responsibilities as defined by the collective bargaining agreement. The position supports instructional quality, curriculum alignment, and continuous improvement of the OLS program through collaboration with program faculty and the Associate Dean. The Lead Faculty serves as an instructional resource and mentor to OLS faculty and participates in curriculum development, assessment of student learning, and program-level initiatives.
OLS is designed to integrate academic coursework with life, career, and self-advocacy skill development, emphasizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL), culturally responsive pedagogy, and strength-based approaches. The OLS Lead Faculty models effective instructional practices, supports inclusive learning environments, and contributes to the ongoing development of accessible and equitable educational pathways.
Under the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) Collective Bargaining Agreement, OLS Lead Faculty positions are designated as temporary full-time faculty appointments and are ineligible for tenure. Contracts are issued on an annual basis and are contingent upon continued funding. While classified as temporary by contract designation, the Occupational & Life Skills program requires sustained instructional leadership; therefore, the position is anticipated to continue on a year-to-year basis subject to funding availability and ongoing program need.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Position Salary Range: $84,209.79/year - $/year
Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $84,209.79; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires start no higher than $90,293.65 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,820 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment.
All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.
We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Generous benefits package is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc.
In addition to teaching, full-time faculty maintains office hours and participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.
