Position Summary

Bellevue College (BC) International Education (IE) is looking for a Program Coordinator (PC) to prepare and run a short-term customized program from mid-July to early August 2026. The following duties are typical for this position but should not be considered all-inclusive as duties may be changed based on management discretion and institutional needs. The primary responsibility is to prepare the program thoroughly and deliver a successful program by actively engaging with the students to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to, handling all logistics of all on- and off-campus activities, planning and facilitating themed seminars, coordinating an orientation session and a farewell ceremony, leading all on- and off-campus activities, staying within the allotted budget, supervising a few student assistants, and briefing the IE director daily.

Japanese Middle School Program

Program dates:
July 31 to August 7, 2026

Group size: 60 students, 9th graders and 6 adult chaperones.

Number of assistants to supervise: 2-3

Expected start date:
July 1, 2025 (or July 16, 2026 the latest).

Expected end date:
August 7, 2026.

Estimated hours: 68.5 hours including preparation time.

Expected work hours:
Between 8:30am and 6:00pm with breaks in-between including one evening

NOTES:

* The program is semi-confirmed as of posting this announcement; however, it can be cancelled as late as 30-days before program starting date.

* This is not an on-campus job for students. Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. for the program specific dates, hours for the entire program without any conflicts.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Pay rate: $20.98/hour - $27.95/hour.

This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per WAC , following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits.

About the Department

International Education (IE) provides support for students mainly on F and J visa holders who plan to enroll in the college-credit, International High School Completion (IHSC), the Bridge Pathways, and Intensive English programs. IE services include international recruitment, admissions, advising, class enrollment, medical insurance related matters, student engagement and housing referrals. In addition, IE works with our partners to develop and deliver various short-term customized programs throughout the year for participants wishing to enhance their general English skills and experience rich, diverse Northwest cultures firsthand.
