OverviewThe purpose of this position is to help oversee the youth and volunteers in the Children’s Church and Youth Programs and implement the ministry and mission of the Eastside Corps Community Center. The role includes after‑school and summer day camp responsibilities, ensuring a ministry mindset and an evangelistic approach to children’s and youth ministry.
Responsibilities- Maintain clean classrooms (chairs, supplies, boards, floors, and trash).
- Complete and submit youth reports and statistics reports on time.
- Pick up youth for after school and youth programs.
- Fuel and maintain vehicles, including cleaning inside and outside.
- Plan, organize, and lead Sunday Children’s Church (morning Sunday School and Worship Service), assisting as needed with afternoon Sunday School.
- Plan, organize, and lead Youth Programs such as Troops, Worship Arts Classes, Dinner, and Singing Company.
- Plan for, lead, and supervise children and volunteers in AM and PM Sunday School, Children’s Church, Youth Programs, After school Program, Winter/Spring Break Camp, and Summer Day Camp.
- Maintain registration and payment accounts for after school programs, Summer Day Camp, and Winter and Spring Day Camps.
- Responsible for Camp Arnold online registration and coordinating transportation, pickup, drop‑off, and follow‑up to seekers.
- Assist in the implementation of other youth programs such as Teen Nights, vacation Bible school, Day Camp, Bible studies, assemblies/chapter meetings, etc.
- Maintain department logs including attendance sheets, document volunteer hours, fill out incident reports, and notice of concerns.
- Create physical files as needed.
- Provide administrative support to department heads as needed.
- Child Safety Duties
- Implement Child Safety procedures as outlined by The Salvation Army policies.
- Maintain accurate, organized, functional files related to Protecting the Mission and Policies for Work with Minors.
- Plan, prepare, and conduct training and informational sessions and workshops related to Protecting the Mission and Policies for work with minors.
- Ensure compliance with policies and disseminate updates of Mission and Policy material.
- Lead or assist in following through with concerns and complaints.
- Must have a passion for the programs of The Salvation Army and be comfortable sharing the tenants and doctrines of The Salvation Army.
- Must promote team ministry and be willing to work with others to accomplish the goals of the ministry.
- Must demonstrate the values associated with The Salvation Army in work and service.
- Prepare and distribute snacks and meals as needed for programs.
- Keep classrooms, gym, chapel, and all occupied areas clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.
- Perform all safety duties as required by The Salvation Army’s safety policies.
- Assist with Christmas programs and other seasonal programs, community projects, and office tasks when requested by the commanding officer or program supervisor.
- Perform general clerical duties including, but not limited to, photocopying, emailing, texting, mailing, and filing as needed.
- Create a fun and safe environment for all involved in the Youth Department.
- Plan and prepare activities, classes, and art projects for the Youth Department.
- Be available as a driver or a “fill‑in” driver for the Youth Department, kettle routes, and other Salvation Army programs as needed.
- Attend staff, Corps Council, and Advisory Council meetings, training, and conferences as recommended and approved by the commanding officer.
