INSTRUCTIONAL COACH 2026-27 0.5 FTE EACH - SHERWOOD FOREST AND STEVENSON ELEMENT ARIES
Location:
Bellevue, Washington. FTE: 0.5 per school.
Start Date:
Immediately.
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Instructional Coach will support teachers and school leaders in improving instruction in literacy and math during the 2026–2027 school year, building instructional capacity, providing targeted coaching, and promoting evidence‑based instructional practices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Collaborate with school leadership teams to identify instructional priorities and areas for teacher support.
- Model effective instructional strategies in classrooms, focusing on literacy and/or math.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group coaching to strengthen instructional practices.
- Facilitate professional development sessions and workshops.
- Analyze student data to inform instructional planning and decision‑making.
- Support teachers in implementing differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs, including multilingual learners and special education students in general education settings.
- Use school improvement goals to develop professional learning plans and monitor progress.
Reports directly to and is supervised by the Building Administrator.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED)- Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with an elementary endorsement (K–8).
- Minimum of 3 years K–5 teaching experience.
- Experience with a variety of assessment tools.
- Bilingual preferred.
- MLL endorsement preferred.
- Experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership.
- Strong knowledge of evidence‑based literacy and math instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with data‑driven instruction and professional learning communities (PLCs).
Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
KNOWLEDGE (POSITION REQUIREMENTS AT ENTRY)- Knowledge of project‑based classroom organization.
- Commitment to the education profession by participation in curriculum development, district and building committees, meetings, and projects.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement standards and EALRs.
- Training in using appropriate technology for digital media, including Adobe products and Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to increasing own knowledge and skills about technology and meaningful integration into instruction.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when needed.
- Reflect on own professional practice and make adaptations to improve instruction.
- Perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
- Meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
- Experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership.
- Strong knowledge of evidence‑based literacy and math instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with data‑driven instruction and professional learning communities (PLCs).
Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. May be exposed to prolonged visual display terminals. Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, 10 pounds constantly.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTEach position is for a one‑year assignment. Salary ranges from $73,900 to $138,754 annually, prorated based on actual FTE.
