Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The position of Certified Testing Coordinator - Advanced Learning Program supports the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the district’s Advanced Learning (Highly Capable) services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates district wide Highly Capable services in alignment with state requirements and district goals.
  • Leads the equitable identification processes for Advanced Learning Services using multiple objective criteria, including universal screening, and family referrals.
  • Recruits, trains and leads proctors for supervising testing.
  • Analyzes program and student data to monitor participation, progress, and identify disproportionality.
  • Collaborates with school leaders, teachers, curriculum developers, test coordinators, instructional technology curriculum leaders (ITCLs), and district departments to support effective implementation of screening processes.
  • Communicates program information and screening results clearly to staff, families, and community partners.
  • Supports teachers with instructional strategies, differentiation, and curriculum resources for advanced learners.
  • Provides professional development related to Highly Capable instruction and identification.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to and is directly supervised by the Director of P-12 Categorical Programs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Extensive teaching experience with multiple grade levels or subjects
  • Experience with organizing complicated projects or tasks

Preferred:

  • Leadership or instructional coaching experience
  • Experience with Advanced Learning or Highly Capable programs
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
  • Possesses or qualifies for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Highly Capable education, differentiation, or advanced learning pedagogy and instructional practices.
  • Is familiar with Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and Revised Code of Washington (RCW) for Highly Capable Programming
  • Understands NAGC’s Pre‑K to Grade 12 Gifted Programming Standards

  • Ability to work successfully in partnerships with parents and the community, including diverse cultures, families, and languages.
  • Possesses the ability to work collaboratively with parents, school, and district staff to support the needs of students as delineated in program scope.
  • Demonstrates an ability to utilize various analytical techniques related to the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication as required to work with a community rich in diversity.
  • Possesses the ability to plan and implement programs or initiatives.
  • Possesses skills that lead to effective work within a team environment, including interdependency and focus on shared goals and vision.
  • Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may be exposed to prolonged exposure to visual display terminals as required. Medium Work:
