Geography, Part-Time Faculty

The Geography Program at Bellevue College is seeking applications for adjunct faculty interested in teaching 'Introduction to GIS' courses on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will serve as the lead faculty member for an introductory level GIS course. Depending upon enrollment demand and feedback, the adjunct faculty instructor would be considered to teach up to four GIS courses per academic year.

Courses are typically offered as hybrid on-campus Monday-Thursday for 50 minutes per session or twice a week for 110 minutes per session. Courses are usually offered on weekdays at a designated time between the hours of 8:30am and 1:20pm. Teaching on-campus is preferred, GIS instructors can teach online from time to time.

The position will begin in Fall 2025 OR Winter 2026, depending upon enrollment demand.

Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. This is a non-instructional assignment which includes GIS lab classes with compensation $42.52- $52.21. Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement which is $42.52/hour.

Hired applicant may receive additional compensation in the form of stipends for additional assignments or participation in certain projects.

Part-time faculty with 50% or more load is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.
