The Communication Studies Department is in need of a part-time human communication instructor to teach various courses such as:

We are in need of a faculty member to teach in-person and possibly online during the Academic Year (starting in the Fall Quarter). We will also hold CVs for 18 months in the event of future staffing needs. A successful candidate will have experience successfully teaching at the college level, demonstrate the ability to teach students with varying needs, and must hold (at minimum) a Master's degree in Speech, Communication, Intercultural Communication, Communication Studies, or Speech Communication.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit lecture class is $6,418.75 - $7,824.66. Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement.
Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department
The Communication Studies Department is part of the Arts & Humanities Division at Bellevue College. We offer courses in 3 main areas of the field: human communication & rhetoric, mass media & journalism, and film studies.
Essential Functions
- Teach at least one 5-credit lecture course. Class size ranges from 28-32 students.
- Teach communication studies courses spanning the department offerings as assigned.
