Early Childhood Specialist 4

The Early Childhood Program Specialist 4 position reports directly to the Early Center Director and is a supervisory or expert level position. The position supports to manage an early childhood program including responsibilities for planning, organizing, executing, controlling, and evaluating activities, sub-functions, and functions including budget, policies, procedures, and staff supervision. The position manages the early childhood program in conformance with regulations and Washington State Day Care Licensing Provisions.

In addition, the Early Childhood Program Specialist 4 position facilitates planning and implementation of programs for children and families; coordinate assessments; evaluation of programs and assigned classrooms; mentors lab and practicum students; model best practices; and culturally sensitivity. This includes assuming responsibility for implementing and coordinating a quality early childhood education program in assigned program areas based on established Center standards, philosophy.

Position Salary Range: $54,168/year - $72,864/year

The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

Guide and instruct teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating curriculum, environment, and activities both indoors and out, based on individual and group development

Work directly with children and families on individual and group needs, guidance, transitions, and emotional support.

Ensure that program staff conform to federal, state and local rules, regulations, and licensing requirements.

Ensure that all classroom records and reports are accurately maintained and submitted.

Mentor, guide and provide assistance and support to assigned student aides and lab/practicum students.

Supervise staff including interviewing and recommending selection of applicants, training new employees, assigning and scheduling work, acting upon leave requests, conducting annual performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary actions.
