Job Description

Hiring Period: 2026/2027 School Year – 0.2 FTE (Leave Replacement)

Job Summary: Educate students by planning, developing, and delivering a course of study according to student learning objectives, district and building curriculum guidelines, and student assessment data.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate higher‑level thinking skills.
  • Provide large‑group, small‑group, and individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources, instruct students in their use, and monitor progress.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, providing appropriate feedback through assignment grading, tests, and homework.
  • Continuously assess student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data.
  • Offer opportunities for students to self‑reflect and track progress toward learning goals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records in compliance with laws, district policies, and school regulations.
  • Create a safe, positive, and effective learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior by establishing and enforcing rules in line with school and district policies.
  • Collaborate with the grade‑level/course team to evaluate and improve student learning.
  • Communicate effectively with various audiences, including timely reporting of student progress.
  • Reflect on instructional effectiveness, identify strengths and weaknesses, and adjust practices for maximum impact.
Qualifications
  • Washington State teaching certificate with required endorsements, or ability to obtain one, and must be a highly qualified teacher in the subject per No Child Left Behind standards.

  • Comprehensive content knowledge aligned with state standards.
  • Experience using a variety of assessment methods, including student self‑assessment, formative assessment, portfolios, and anecdotal records.
  • Data‑driven instructional decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to create a positive learning environment that respects all students, staff, and parents.
  • Effective classroom management for all instructional settings.
  • Rapport building with students.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration with team members in a positive manner.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Competency with current technology and a multimedia approach to instruction.

  • Understanding of Title I, underserved students, PBIS, common core state standards, district curriculum, complex trauma, and state evaluation processes.
Physical Demands

Exercises requiring 35–50 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly; occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch; fine finger dexterity. May work at elevated heights and climb ladders. Exposure to injury risk and ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.

Terms of Employment and Salary

Salary range: $59,323.50 to $ per school year, based on education and experience per the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Additional compensation may be available per CBA. Employees receive twelve sick leave days per year (proportional for part‑term), five annual leave days per year (proportional for FTE).
