Job Overview
RISE Program Specialist (part time). Part‑time Ameri Corps members facilitate a skill‑based curriculum for adjudicated youth aged 12‑18, focusing on educational skill development. Work is conducted in both in‑person and virtual group settings, with individual support as needed. After the curriculum, additional support is provided to each youth for up to 6 months.
QualificationsMinimum qualifications:
- Completion of at least 48 hours of college coursework in social sciences, criminal justice, education, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
- Successful completion of a National Service Criminal History Check.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English and basic computer functions.
- Commitment to serve up to 20 hours per week.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, criminal justice, education, or a related field.
- Spanish language proficiency (desired).
- Teach youth educational-based skills such as goal setting, motivation, organization, study skills, and test‑taking strategies using a pre‑written curriculum.
- Host in‑person groups at schools, probation offices, or other community sites.
- Collect and submit school attendance variables to meet grant‑defined performance measures.
- Attend Ameri Corps National Service events and Nebraska Probation training sessions.
- Engage in ongoing training throughout the service year, including juvenile justice or education conferences and webinars.
Service dates:
August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027. Part‑time, required to complete 900 service hours over one year. Travel may be required at times.
- Living stipend of $1,485.00 monthly ($17,820 annually). The stipend is not considered salary or wage per Ameri Corps federal regulations.
- Segal Education Award of $3,697.50 upon successful completion of the term of National Service.
- Student loan forbearance and interest repayment options for qualifying borrowers during the service term.
