Part-Time Instructor, Occupational & Life Skills (OLS)

Bellevue College's Occupational & Life Skills (OLS) program is seeking an equity-minded educator with a strong background in special education and a passion for supporting students through strength-based, student-centered instruction. This adjunct faculty role offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovative program that creates meaningful educational and career pathways for students with disabilities and neurodivergent learners.

Part-time OLS Instructors demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence, including directing student learning in assigned courses, establishing and assessing student learning outcomes, and participating in the on-going development of program curriculum and activities; and through advising of students; participating in college governance and decision making; maintaining current knowledge and skills in area of assignment; building collaborative relationships within the BC community and the community at large;

and fostering a positive, caring learning environment in which diversity and pluralism are valued. Classes are 90 minutes each, twice per week that are held between 8 am and 3 pm PST.

The ideal candidate brings expertise in special education, Universal Design for Learning, providing accommodations and modifications for diverse learners, a commitment to student success, and a proven track record of supporting neurodiverse learners to thrive.

Instructors perform duties and functions under the direction of the Dean of Connected Learning, and will be directly responsible under the Associate Dean of OLS Bellevue College.

Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit class is $6,418.75 -$7,824.65. However base quarterly salary for this 2-Credit Course: $3,863.79

There is a potential to teach 3 classes (6 credits) in Winter term and 2-3 classes in Spring term (4-6 credits) depending on experience, student evaluations and other factors. Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.
