Student Success Coach, Occupational and Life Skills
Student Success coaches will work with OLS students to help them: learn and practice methods to cope with strong emotions and stress, learn and apply strategies to stay on task and maintain attention, learn how to get work started and persist with challenging work, develop personalized systems to organize materials and work areas, develop systems to start and complete assignments, learn how to break assignments into smaller parts and plan when to do work, develop self-reflection skills to help students take ownership of new habits, identify and use technology that improves their productivity, learn how to study and take tests effectively, gain insight about what motivates them, and use that knowledge to be productive, learn how to advocate for themselves with teachers, complete work during Learning Lab hours.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Position Salary Range: $20.48/hour - $27.26/hour. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Competitive salary is within the Range stated above, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. About the Department
The OLS program is nationally recognized and committed to creating inclusive pathways to higher education for students with disabilities. Our faculty are passionate educators who believe in the potential of all learners to grow and succeed. Our students earn their associate degree in Occupational & Life Skills. Our goal is for students to gain competitive work skills and lead a fulfilled life after graduation.
We educate students with curriculum tailored to their learning needs and provide them with an abundance of opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom in real-life situations, culminating in a 250+ hour internship specific to their unique career goals. We have 16 students per class average for more personalized instruction. They take on average 8 credits per quarter (90 credits total) which is usually 10-14 class hours per week.
When we work with students, we use the following student support strategies:
Collaborative Problem Solving, Social Thinking, Executive Functioning Supports with dedicated coaches.
