Position: Teen Services Librarian - Lakeview Region - 40 Hours

Teen Services Librarian

King County Library System (KCLS) in Washington State is seeking a community-focused, enthusiastic Teen Services Librarian to serve the Lake Hills Library, which is located within the Lakeview region of KCLS. The ideal candidate brings experience working with teens and is comfortable supporting teen-focused collections, as well as conducting outreach in schools and other community organizations. This position may serve any branch in the Lakeview Region.

Lakeview includes Bellevue Library, Lake Hills Library, Newport Way Library, and Library Connection @ Crossroads.

The Teen Services Librarian position performs a variety of professional in-library, out-of-library, and online programs and services in support of teens, caregivers, families, schools and other organizations serving children and teens in the assigned region. This position provides assistance with basic and in-depth technological and informational assistance by phone, in-person and in outreach locations. This position also participates in selection and maintenance of KCLS materials in their region to meet the unique educational, recreational, and information needs of the community.

Candidates who speak languages in addition to English, especially Spanish, Mandarin or Russian are encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties/Major Responsibilities:

  • Creates, develops, directs, delivers, and evaluates relevant services and programs, including co-creating programs with the community.
  • Develops relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations, including civic, business, education, and cultural communities.
  • Engages with the community and target service population (e.g., children, teens, adults) using many delivery methods. Promotes the use of materials, services and programs to the community.
  • Participates in community activities by providing information, answering questions and discussing community needs for services. Represents the Library and makes public presentations.
