Role DescriptionThe High School English Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Bellevue, WA. This educator designs and delivers engaging English language arts instruction, including literature, writing, and critical thinking skills, aligned with school standards and student needs. Daily responsibilities include lesson planning, classroom teaching, grading and providing feedback, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. The teacher collaborates with counselors and other staff to support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth, participates in staff meetings and professional development, and contributes to school activities and events.
The role also involves fostering a classroom environment that reflects the school’s Christ-centered mission while welcoming students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to plan and implement effective instruction, including Lesson Planning and Teaching skills.
- Strong subject-matter expertise in English Teaching and Writing.
- Excellent Communication skills for engaging students, families, and colleagues.
- Relevant teaching certification or licensure for high school English, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience working with high school students, preferably in alternative or supportive learning environments.
- Commitment to the school’s Christ-centered mission and ability to integrate values respectfully into classroom practice.
- Strong classroom management, cultural humility, and ability to support students with diverse needs.
