Shift: Monday - Friday
Hours:
12:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
Reports to:
Elementary Director and Primary Director
Starting Pay Rate: $35.00 - for instructional hours
Foreign Language Responsibilities:- Provide opportunities for every student to participate and succeed
- Prepare creative, interactive, and engaging lessons for two age groups: 6-9 year-olds (once a week 45 minute sessions for two classrooms) and 3-6-year-olds (25 minute, once a week sessions for 9 classrooms).
- Provide encouragement and feedback to students
- Write progress report narratives twice a year for each student at the Elementary level and a generic description of what has been covered in class for the Primary level.
- Take pictures of students in class and share them with the parents on a monthly basis with a short description of the lessons being covered.
- Work with the Elementary Program Director to create a curriculum calendar that best aligns with the goals and visions of Bellevue Montessori School
- Teach knowledge and skills including, but not limited to, exposure to the cultural aspects of the language with music, singing, dancing, writing characters, and cultural celebrations, etc.
- Provide instruction that helps students develop the ability to speak common phrases, write simple characters, and sing songs.
- Create lesson plans that build vocabulary around common words and situations where children can practice speaking Mandarin.
- Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace including with students and families
- Bachelor’s degree
- Be a native Mandarin speaker
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience teaching Mandarin and creating curriculum for elementary and/or pre-school-aged children
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Professional
- Technical skills that support recordkeeping (Google Classroom, Transparent Classroom) and pre-approved parent communication
- Ability to establish collaborative relationships with teaching staff
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness to complete standard child care provider requirements:
Infant/Child First Aid & CPR Training, Blood Borne Pathogen, MMR immunization, TB Test, Background Check & Fingerprinting
Qualified candidates will go through 2 to 3 rounds of interviews including live demonstrations or providing previous work examples or portfolio.
