Engineering Manager - Strategic Infrastructure Capacity Planning

Overview

Meta is seeking an Engineering Manager to join the Capacity Engineering team to focus on site-wide performance and capacity optimization at the most strategic levels, at the intersection of all Meta products and services, and all physical infrastructure (Servers, Data Centers, Network). This role will focus on leading, coaching, and growing a team of engineers to create and optimize strategic infrastructure capacity plans that balance service, infrastructure, financial, and business constraints, directly managing billions of dollars of investment per year.

We build software and mathematical optimization models to drive decisions. This role partners with the executive team to assess capacity scenarios for executability, tradeoffs, and impact, supporting one of the largest fleets in the world. It is a cross-functional role that collaborates with diverse engineering and business teams to power Meta’s rapid growth, ensuring long-range strategic investment decisions for products and infrastructure, including AI and non-AI technologies.

You will work with millions of servers and significant data center capacity to power one of the largest internet services.

• Capacity planning for all of Meta: all software products / services. Develop and analyze business and technical data and what-if scenarios to drive executive decision making around infrastructure / product investments and strategy, up to the CxO level.

• Build and maintain a high-performing team: hire top talent, own career development and health of the team to ensure continued growth in capability over time.

• Assess team performance on an ongoing basis: address under-performance, recognize and promote performance.

• Maximize conditions for the team's success: ensure clarity in vision, priorities, roadmaps, and key business context. Develop, maintain, and, if needed, fix relationships with cross-functional partners across technical and business functions.

• Navigate complex tradeoffs and relationships to balance solving for the team, cross-functional partners / stakeholders, and Meta priorities.

• Identify capacity-related issues at all layers of the stack and work across technical and business teams to define and implement solutions.

• Drive technical discussions: influence design and process in partnership with the team, review key outputs, and contribute to some technical IC work with strategic influence.

• Develop and maintain partnerships across technical and business teams including software service owners, Production Engineering, Server Hardware Engineering, Finance, Server Supply Chain, Network Engineering, Data Center, Operations, and Planning teams to scale infrastructure and services.

Public Compensation: $184,000/year to $257,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
