Position SummaryThe Senior Project Engineer is a highly skilled, hands‑on civil engineer who independently executes detailed engineering work on residential site development projects. This role focuses heavily on site development design, technical production, and efficiency—perfect for someone who loves solving engineering problems, optimizing workflows, and using modern tools to improve quality and speed. You will be responsible for producing civil design plans and reports, navigating local permitting requirements, coordinating with survey teams and outside consultants, and implementing technology‑enabled workflows that enhance accuracy and consistency.
This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on doing the work and continuously improving how the work gets done.
- Prepare detailed civil engineering plans, including:
- Drainage plans
- Grading plans
- Utility layouts
- Stormwater reports
- Erosion and sediment control plans
- Perform engineering calculations, modeling, and analysis.
- Conduct QA/QC on personal work and participate in peer reviews.
- Use automation, templates, and advanced software features to accelerate design workflows.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline plan production, reduce errors, and improve consistency.
- Champion new tools, technologies, or methods that enhance engineering efficiency (e.g., advanced Civil 3D workflows, automated drainage modeling, parametric tools, AI‑assisted design checks).
- Contribute to upgrading CAD standards, digital processes, and engineering best practices.
- Manage all engineering tasks for assigned projects from start to finish.
- Prepare permit‑ready plan sets and coordinate directly with local jurisdictions for submittals and revisions.
- Maintain clear communication with internal staff, survey teams, outside consultants, and clients to ensure on‑time, high‑quality deliverables.
- Track progress, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy across multiple concurrent projects.
- Work closely with survey crew chiefs, CAD staff, and project coordinators to align engineering and surveying deliverables.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, client discussions, and design review meetings.
- Adjust engineering components based on various stakeholder needs.
- Provide technical recommendations during project planning phases.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Active Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 5–10+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in residential site development.
- Strong knowledge of Puget Sound permitting requirements (Bellevue, Kirkland, Seattle, King County).
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and applicable stormwater modeling tools (WWHM, MGSFlood, etc.).
- A passion for efficiency, innovation, and leveraging technology to improve engineering workflows.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong technical problem‑solving skills.
- Arizona PE license (desired but not required).
- California PE license (desired but not required).
- Experience with automated or advanced CAD workflows.
- Familiarity with integrated engineering‑surveying processes.
- Experience with single family residential developments and related problem solving.
