Responsibilities- Support traffic engineering design and analysis for municipal and transit projects
- Assist with corridor traffic analysis, intersection operations, and signal timing studies
- Support preparation of traffic signal, ITS, signing/striping, and MOT/TCP design plans
- Perform traffic data collection, QA/QC, and technical analysis tasks
- Assist with traffic simulation and operational modeling efforts
- Prepare technical reports, exhibits, figures, and project documentation
- Coordinate with project teams and support client meeting preparation
- Support project delivery for local agency and transit clients, including Sound Transit and local municipalities
- Assist senior staff with project coordination, field reviews, and construction support activities
- Support development of traffic studies, operational analyses, and multimodal improvement concepts
- Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
- Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro‑simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
- Focus on traffic design, including accident analysis and mitigation strategies, signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real‑time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed‑circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS)
- Perform other duties as needed
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AutoCAD, and Micro Station
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Interest in traffic engineering, traffic operations, and transportation planning
- Familiarity with traffic analysis and design software such as Synchro, Sim Traffic, or VISSIM preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD or Micro Station preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Self‑motivated with strong problem‑solving abilities and willingness to learn
- Interest in municipal and transit‑related transportation projects
- Experience with data analysis, GIS, or technical report preparation is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a fast‑paced consulting environment
- Bachelor's degree
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including Micro Station, AutoCAD, and Guide Sign software
- Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
- Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
