Position Title: V&V I&C Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract V&V I&C Engineer opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- V&V Leadership & Planning:
- Lead the planning and execution of digital I&C V&V for assigned reactor systems in alignment with:
- Digital Systems Quality Assurance Plan (DSQAP) for reactor
- System specific V&V plans
- Digital I&C Test Plan for reactor
- Develop and maintain detailed V&V schedules, work breakdown structures, and resource plans; coordinate with project controls where required.
- Serve as day to day technical lead for the Digital Systems V&V Organization (DSyVVO) team assigned to the system(s), consistent with the DSQAP.
- Coordinate planning for system level requirements verification (analysis, inspection, test, demonstration) consistent with reactor requirements verification procedures and system V&V plans.
- Execution of V&V
Activities: - Plan and organize V&V tasks, coordinate schedule and budget with the Design Team and Project Team and lead the V&V effort for the given scope.
- Ensure independence requirements are met:
- For safety systems, the Digital Systems V&V Engineer is required to be technically, managerially, and financially independent of the design organization.
- For Class ILA/ILB/ILC PDDs, ensure the test/V&V team independence meets the Digital I&C Test Plan
- Lead or oversee development of V&V artifacts, including:
- V&V plans, test design specifications, test cases, and procedures.
- V&V reports, anomaly/problem reports, and closure documentation.
- Coordinate and technically guide SyAT/FAT/SAT and other integration/acceptance tests as part of V&V, ensuring traceability to system and plant-level requirements.
- Provide oversight of supplier IV&V activities for safety-related and NSRST digital systems
- When delegated by the V&V Manager, exercise the DSQAP Lead Engineer authorities, including:
- Managing conduct of tasks and reviewing and approving the reports prepared by DSyVVO members.
- Ensuring that the activities are performed in accordance with this plan and that DSyVVO members are qualified and trained.
- Recommending rejection of a PDD or tool when it cannot be shown to be adequately safe
- As V&V Lead for assigned scope, review and accept V&V outputs to confirm:
- Compliance with V&V task requirements and procedures.
- Adequate coverage of requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Proper disposition and closure of anomalies, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
- Maintain configuration control of V&V products (plans, procedures, reports) in accordance with QP 03-7 and project document control expectations; ensure records are complete, auditable, and traceable.
- Support internal and external audits, surveillance, and regulatory reviews by preparing objective evidence and presenting V&V approach/results.
- Align V&V activities with the ICE System Engineering Development Plan so that V&V supports lifecycle objectives across requirements, design, implementation, integration, and operations.
- Work with system engineers and requirements owners to:
- Ensure requirements are testable/verifiable and properly traced into V&V plans and test artifacts.
- Ensure V&V findings inform updates to requirements, design, safety analysis, licensing, and supplier scopes.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Assign tasks to V&V team members, monitor progress, and obtain additional resources as needed to maintain overall project schedule, per DSQAP Lead Engineer role.
- Provide technical mentoring to V&V engineers and test engineers on reactor V&V methods, tools, and standards.
- Align V&V scope with reactor ICE System Engineering Development Plan so that V&V activities support lifecycle objectives.
- Responsible for interfacing and supporting geographically diverse and international design team members to develop supporting design documentation. The design team members include in-house and subcontracted resources and may include partner/customer resources as well.
- Develop and review system- and component-level specifications and scopes of work.
- Perform engineering and design evaluations in the application of nuclear codes and standards, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations.
- Specify and describe suitability of instrumentation measurement techniques for use in sodium fast reactor and integrated energy storage technologies, including analysis of measurement range, response time, and measurement accuracy.
- Analyze and apply regulatory criteria and standards to complex Instrumentation and Control system design.
- Develop and review technical design documents, such as System Requirements Documents, System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, Engineering Design Specifications, etc.
- Create and manage drawing packages of system and component designs, including but not limited to P&IDs, control system architecture drawings, control logic and loop diagrams, and instrument installation drawings, etc.
