Fabrication Manager

The Reactor Enclosure System Fabrication Manager is responsible for leading a geographically diverse team focused on design-for-fabrication, fabrication oversight, and assembly of critical reactor equipment for a large-scale advanced energy project. This person will work closely with design, procurement, fabrication suppliers, construction teams, and external service partners to support safe, high-quality, and reliable equipment delivery.

This role will help guide the full fabrication lifecycle, from early design coordination through field construction and startup. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in heavy mechanical fabrication, pressure vessel or nuclear-grade equipment, supplier oversight, quality-driven execution, and cross-functional coordination in highly regulated environments.

Compensation Range: $56 - $95/hr

Responsibilities:

• Lead interface management and coordination across a geographically distributed team responsible for delivery of reactor equipment hardware.
• Support development and delivery of integrated reactor equipment and components from design through construction and startup, with a strong focus on safety and reliability.
• Provide visible leadership in safety and quality throughout fabrication and delivery activities.
• Develop and coordinate the product fabrication lifecycle, including design-for-fabrication efforts, fabrication drawings, specifications, testing, inspection, surveillance, and NDE planning.
• Ensure development and approval of material specifications, weld specifications, and related technical products.
• Support reactor materials acquisition strategies and long-lead procurement execution.
• Advise on fabrication and assembly schedules, including coordination across multiple suppliers and project teams.
• Partner with technical teams on GD&T, metrology, and coordinate systems for major components during design and fabrication.
• Oversee resolution of non-conformance reports and associated engineering changes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable fabrication-related regulatory criteria, codes, standards, and engineering programs, including project codes of record.
• Interface with regulators, stakeholders, customers, and project teams on fabrication, design, and regulatory matters.
• Coordinate across project teams to ensure cohesive fabrication strategies and smooth handoffs between organizations.
• Review subcontractor and partner deliverables for technical quality, completeness, and conformance to project requirements.
• Provide technical oversight of supplier and construction activities to help ensure successful component delivery.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university, plus 8+ years of direct experience with large component fabrication or construction methods and processes; or a master's degree with comparable experience.
• Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001. Experience working under an ASME N-Certificate quality program is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in heavy mechanical or pressure vessel fabrication and assembly, or in oversight of suppliers and subcontractors performing similar work.
• Experience working with suppliers or subcontractors subject to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B quality programs is preferred.
• Strong background in design and fabrication of complex, multidisciplinary structures and equipment.
• Prior experience in design, fabrication, and construction of major nuclear mechanical components, reactor equipment, or similar highly regulated equipment is highly desired.
• Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII and/or Section III fabrication topics.
• Familiarity with specialty areas such as welding and weld qualification, or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5), is a plus.
