Position: Core Thermal Hydraulics Engineer /Analyst
The Core Thermal Hydraulics Engineer / Analyst will support the development of thermal-hydraulic methodologies, reactor core analysis, and design activities for an advanced liquid metal-cooled reactor program. This role will contribute to evaluating reactor core behavior under a range of operating and transient conditions, while supporting test programs and advancing analysis methods used in reactor safety and engineering.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in nuclear thermal-hydraulic analysis, especially in liquid metal-cooled reactor environments, along with strong technical judgment, a quality-driven mindset, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.

Location: Bellevue, WA or Remote

Length of Assignment:
6 months
Compensation Range: $69 - $115/hr

Responsibilities:
  • Perform thermal-hydraulic analyses using in-house subchannel analysis software to assess scenarios that inform reactor safety and design parameters.
  • Support methodology development and technical analysis efforts for advanced reactor core design.
  • Contribute to test program support and engineering evaluations of system behavior under various operating conditions.
  • Perform work in accordance with the company's quality assurance program and applicable quality requirements.
  • Prepare and/or support design verification reviews of calculation products in accordance with governing procedures and policies.
  • Deliver high-quality technical work products that are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable specifications, performance requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Qualifications:
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or another relevant technical engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in thermal-hydraulic analysis with a bachelor's degree, or 8+ years with a master's or Ph.D., along with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical work.
  • 8+ years of experience in nuclear systems thermal-hydraulic behavior and analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in advanced liquid metal-cooled nuclear reactor core design and thermal-hydraulic analysis using subchannel analysis software such as SE2-ANL, COBRA, or VIPRE.
  • Strong understanding of uncertainty quantification, verification, and validation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High degree of trust and integrity, with the ability to communicate openly, work respectfully with others, and foster teamwork.
