Terra Power, LLC. Is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Manager for the Intermediate Heat Transport (IHT) system design team on Terra Power's advanced nuclear reactor projects. In this role, you will support personnel and technical management of the IHT team, and report directly to the Manager of the Intermediate Heat Transport system.
The IHT Deputy Manager is responsible for supporting a geographically diverse team focused on the design of reactor equipment and components supporting Terra Power's Natrium project. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate a team working on the reactor and it's interfacing systems as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee multidisciplinary engineering activities, ensuring project teams meet scope, technical performance, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Develop, integrate, and analyze system-level schedules, including identifying acceleration opportunities and ensuring alignment with overall project schedules.
- Coordinate technical interfaces and handoffs between Terra Power, partners, and interfacing project teams to enable cohesive design and fabrication strategies.
- Plan, monitor, and manage task progress, including defining required scope, maximizing efficiency of individual contributors, and ensuring complete and accurate work execution.
- Develop and maintain engineering staffing and resource plans, evaluating team skillsets and adjusting staffing to meet long-range needs and project priorities.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new engineering personnel, ensuring smooth assimilation into project processes and expectations.
- Identify, communicate, and help resolve emerging technical issues and risks, ensuring Engineering and Project Management are consistently informed.
- Maintain and align system-level risk registers with project-level risk registers, ensuring consistency and visibility of key risk items.
- Maintain project documentation and records in accordance with corporate procedures and configuration management requirements.
- Lead and support incorporation of plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittals, contributing to compliance with Licensing Modernization Project requirements.
- Minimum of 6+ years of related experience. A Bachelor's and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3+ years experience. Previous supervisory or mentoring experience is desirable, but not required.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate within highly multidisciplinary, matrixed engineering teams.
- Experience supervising personnel performing complex technical or analytical tasks for nuclear power applications.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal direction.
- Direct experience executing projects under NRC or DOE regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to manage and deliver projects with competing objectives and complex design constraints, resolving conflicts across stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, execution, and performance management.
- Experience with collaboration and workflow tools, with preference for Atlassian Confluence/JIRA.
- Familiarity with advanced project scheduling tools, such as Primavera P6.
