Manager, Transient Structural Analysts
Terra Power, LLC. is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to manage the engineering efforts of the Transient Structural Analysts (TSA) team for the Natrium reactor project. This role will manage TSA team and focus on execution to assure technical adequacy in accordance with the company, regulator, and industry standards, with an emphasis on transient structural analysis. The TSA Manager will support the analytical work for Natrium Reactor enclosure system and Reactor Core system including managing component/system analysis, training, staffing requirements and personnel performance.
The TSA Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering Analysis (MEA) group.
Responsibilities
* Keep Mechanical Engineering Analysis Senior Manager and engineering management informed of major emerging technical issues.
* Review and approve Transient Structural Analysis report such seismic analysis of the reactor, vibration (flow-induced, mechanical, and acoustic) analysis of reactor internals.
* Interface with regulators, stakeholders, and customers on discipline design issues.
* Support Senior Manager and the Director on achieving department goals and milestones, resource planning, and budgeting.
* Ensure that work process execution and technical adequacy within the team scope are in accordance with the requirements, project standards, and industry standards.
* Support all analytical work that is on-going and to be performed through scope management, progress tracking in support of project team, review, and approval.
* Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and indoctrination of new engineers in TSA team.
* Recommend staff changes (replacements due to attrition, new requirements, de-staffing).
* Assist in resolving priority conflicts in conjunction with the projects when issues arise that compete for resources. Elevate those that cannot be resolved to the Senior Manager level.
* Support employee development through mentoring, training, and challenging assignments within the specific engineering program efforts as assigned.
* Perform self-assessments of work processes and technical adequacy.
* Demonstrate visible, continuous leadership in the timely delivery of tasks with quality and improving work efficiency.
* Prepare, review and concur with technical content of scope of work and subcontract packages prior to bid within project and discipline areas or responsibility within the TSA manager scope.
* Approve discipline specific engineering products/documents.
* Verify accurate and appropriate time charging of employees.
Key Qualifications and Skills
* Expertise in planning, building, reviewing, and guiding in the areas of nuclear reactor component Transient Structural Analysis and Methods.
* S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University. Aerospace, Nuclear, and Civil Engineering degrees are also considered.
* Minimum 12 years of related experience with B.S. degree; or 10 years with M.S. degree; or 7 years with Ph.D. degree and ability to produce a high-quality work product.
* At least 3 years in technical leadership role with ongoing requirement for performance of technical scope, in addition to other managerial responsibilities.
