Job Overview

The Fire Alarm Designer will contribute to the creation of safe and efficient fire alarm systems. The Fire Alarm Designer will utilize expertise in fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards to design customized fire alarm systems tailored to our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing fire safety in various environments.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
  • Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
  • Utilize CAD software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
  • Prepare submittals and material lists.
  • Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
  • Produce designs and submittals for review by local officials.
  • Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Education and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, drafting or related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in fire alarm design and AutoCAD.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and CAD software – Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, and/or BIM 360.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and physics.
  • NICET certification (Level II or higher) is required.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
