Financial Analyst, Auditor Accountant, Risk Manager/Analyst, Financial Reporting
SALARY: $39.00/hr; $81,120/yr (Includes an NAIC Supplement)
THIS IS A FIELD POSITION AND REQUIRES TRAVEL MORE THAN 70% OF IN AND OUT OF STATE TRAVEL.
Performs in-house and/or on-site audits and/or analysis of domestic and/or foreign insurance companies’ financial condition to determine solvency and compliance to statutes and regulations, contacts companies regarding findings, determines need for subsequent action based on insurance companies responses to audits and analysis, prepares and recommends level of priority for each company and reviews audited financial statements and other financial reports and periodically conducts reviews of other insurance examiner/analyst findings.
Evaluates insurance companies’ operations to determine if prior review recommendations have been implemented, assesses company progress toward implementation of prior audit and analysis recommendations and assumes responsibility for audit and/or analysis reports; conducts, develops and maintains analysis process for use in financial assessment of annual and quarterly statements and maintains regulatory status reports for foreign and/or domestic companies; reviews various financial transactions for appropriateness and compliance to statutes and regulations.
Performs comprehensive audits of all books, records, assets, liabilities, income, disbursements and operating policies and procedures and examines contracts to determine statutory compliance and propriety.
Represents department at meetings with companies and/or outside agencies; provides written and/or verbal response for request for information.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- Accredited Financial Examiner (i.e., AFE) designation by Society of Financial Examiners; 3 years experience in accounting, internal auditing, finance, insurance, marketing and business administration; must provide own transportation and has a valid driver’s license.
- Certified Public Accountant (i.e., CPA) designation by state accountancy board; 3 years experience in accounting, internal auditing, finance, insurance, business administration and marketing; must provide own transportation and has a valid driver’s license.
- Certified Financial Examiner (i.e., CFE) designation by Society of Financial Examiners; 5 years experience in accounting, internal auditing, finance, marketing, insurance or business administration; must provide own transportation and has a valid driver’s license.
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment: C.P.A. continuing education requirement of 40 hours per year as per American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. A.F.E. and C.F.E. continuing education requirement of 120 credits per 3 years per Society of Financial Examiners.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONSWork involves overnight travel in and out of state more than 70% of the time. Knowledge of financial and/or cost accounting, insurance, economics, finance or business administration, auditing principles and procedures, statistics, advanced mathematics (e.g., calculus, analytical geometry, algebra), state laws and rules governing insurance company operations. Skill in use of calculator and adding machine; operation of personal computer. Ability to deal with many variables and determine specific course of action, use proper research methods in gathering data, write and proofread technical reports of audit findings;
handle sensitive inquiries from contacts with company officials, creditors and other interested parties.
