Assistant Controller

Overview

Large, privately held, family‑owned distribution company with over 90 years of success. As the Assistant Controller, you will serve as a key member of the accounting leadership team, supporting the Controller and senior finance leaders. The Assistant Controller is a hands‑on role in financial reporting within a multi‑entity environment and will lead and mentor members of the accounting team. You will contribute to both ongoing operations and strategic finance initiatives.

• Assist with monthly, year‑end, and audit‑related close processes, including reconciliations and variance analysis
• Review, approve, and post journal entries while ensuring compliance with GAAP
• Supervise and develop accounting team members, providing guidance and oversight
• Partner on budgets, ERP implementation, audits, tax preparation, and special financial projects

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA + (preferred)
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience
• 3–5 years supervisory experience
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience in a multi‑entity environment, strong accrual accounting, have led audits
• Comfortable working with ERP systems (Great Plains preferred) and advanced Excel
