Position Overview

Supervises Business Office/Accounting personnel and general operations. Assists the Finance Director in the financial management of the Club. This position requires administrative, customer service, and communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee and be a part of the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue accounting, and general ledger management.
  • Provide guidance and support to the accounting team in the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Own specific aspects of the accounting cycle, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, review the financials for accuracy each month, and explain variances to budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, annual budgets, and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to leadership to support business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Manage the annual financial statement review and tax filings, working closely with external auditors and tax accountants.
  • Oversee bank functions and cash management processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of cash activities.
  • Own and manage the accounting system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the accounting department.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee internal control procedures related to accounting, cash management, and administrative functions to ensure accuracy, safeguard assets, and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach, and guide a team of 4 accounting staff in ensuring their responsibilities are achieved accurately and timely.
  • Lead training and provide educational tools to the business, as needed.
  • Identify and participate in ad-hoc projects as needed
Other Duties

Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides direct supervision for Accounting and Business Office staff in coordination with, and in the absence of, the Director of Finance. Provides corrective action for staff when needed in accordance with club policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Core Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience;
    Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing accounting staff.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting standards.
  • Experience with Net Suite ERP/NSPB implementation and optimization is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and Intermediate Excel skills
