Senior Associate, Accounting

Ares is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Digital Infrastructure accounting team. The role will support and take initiatives across a range of accounting areas as Ares continues to increase in size and complexity. The Senior Associate will be responsible for accounting for Ares Investments in the funds that we manage and for modernizing Ares’ investment process, including collection, transformation, recording, and reporting.

• Fund accounting for the Digital Infrastructure portfolio, including capital activity, corporate actions, and valuations of investments in the Digital Infrastructure funds.
• Perform accounting research and reach accounting conclusions around rechargeability of fund costs and other relevant areas; support the business as required.
• Ongoing management of fund billing and cost allocations in coordination with the Corporate Accounting team.
• Build good working relationships with other business functions, particularly portfolio management and investor relations.
• Ownership for analyzing, solutioning and operationalizing best‑in‑class investment accounting and reporting practices, including end‑to‑end accounting and reporting with minimal manual intervention once securities are booked at point of entry.
• Ongoing support of new global development technology and Financial ERP implementations.
• Enhance top‑down dashboard reporting for management to review, reference and absorb information quickly on performance of the business.
• Responsibility and support of the global development accounting function, including coordination with regional teams in the US, Japan, and the UK for monthly close.
• Assist with required asset reporting for tracking project status and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Contribute to various special projects including capital transactions, acquisitions, and process improvements to improve overall group efficiencies.
• Help automate other accounting and financial reporting requirements through AI tools.
• Support internal reporting requirements and other ad‑hoc requests of various internal users including other finance and accounting teams, investor relations, and the front office.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (advanced degree is a plus; CPA or CA preferred).
• 4+ years of progressive professional experience in accounting; public accounting experience preferred; financial services experience preferred.
• Exposure to investment management, fund accounting, and SEC reporting, strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Yardi Voyager and/or Procore solutions is a plus.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail while seeing the big picture.
• Passion to learn about the Digital Infrastructure business.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to identify and analyse problems and develop an effective course of action; solution mindset.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Desire to own issues and be accountable; a strong desire for personal and professional growth.

Base salary range: $110,000–$140,000. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance‑based bonus.
