Underwriter; Wholesale

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Underwrite FHA, VA, and Conventional loans, including evaluation of property and appraisal.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to Loan Coordinators (processors).
• Provide back-up underwriting to other underwriters within the department, as necessary.
• Assist Loan Officers and Loan Coordinators with borrower qualifying scenarios.
• Keep current on FHA/VA/Conventional changes and underwriting guidelines.
• Proficient in underwriting automated systems: LP, DU & others.
• Assist in clearing underwriting conditions and meeting doc draw, funding and lock dates.
• All functions shall be conducted in a manner keeping with the spirit and intent of EHL’s Guiding Values, Balanced Stewardship, and Convictions.
• Responsible for proactive communication with management, operations, and production, with respect to challenges or opportunities.
• Respond to Quality Control Audits from internal departments as well as outside agencies.
• Ability to problem solve and seek solutions to challenges that arise during the underwriter of a loan.
• Adhere to applicable agency, investor, and internal credit and property guidelines.
• Provide review times that meet or exceed company expectations.
• Provide continuous customer service to all loan production staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Expected to meet productivity guidelines of the position.
• Effectively use software specific for the position and Microsoft office products.
• Work well with other members of the EHL team and be willing to fill in when needed.

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Minimum 3+ years mortgage Underwriter in all aspects of FHA, VA and conventional lending
• 2-3 years Wholesale lending experience, preferred
• Good knowledge of property appraisal standards and what minimum property requirements for given loan types and investors
• Exercise good judgment and strong character, motivated, hard working.
• Ability to work well with fellow associates, clients and vendors.
• Good communication skills. Neat, clean, healthy work habits.

• Requires all forms of dexterity and mobility throughout the shift, which may include extended periods of sitting and/or standing. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, twist, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to speak and hear, lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds (25 lbs.) or occasionally more.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, occasionally noisy environment.
• May be required to drive for business purposes and if so, must hold a driver’s license in good standing and maintain personal auto insurance in compliance with EHL’s Auto Insurance policy.

The base hourly range rate for this position is $24.85 - $48.22 per hour, depending on a number of factors including location and experience. If applicable, associate may be eligible for per-file incentives, commissions, bonuses or other variable earnings as determined upon hire.

Basic Life/AD&D insurance for eligible associates as well as a Short-term Disability benefit are provided by Evergreen.
