Overview

The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Finance team is seeking a Finance Manager to support Strategic Sourcing. This team owns a portfolio of systems and programs that decide: if and when we should source a product, from which vendor and at what cost; the ideal supply chain setup (e.g. deciding among domestic orders, dropship, direct imports etc); when the vendor should ship/deliver inventory to Amazon FCs;

which inbound lanes for pre-allocated transportation with how many shipments. Collectively, these decisions reduce out of stock rates for our customers while optimizing sourcing costs and improving vendor experience (VX) and performance of our vendors. You will work directly with a global team of operations research scientists, economists, machine learning specialists, software developers, and product managers who lead the industry in the development of innovative strategies to maximize long term profitability.

Key responsibilities
  • Support Sourcing Strategy and Vendor Selection programs that influence nearly all buying decisions for the Retail business, resulting in millions of decisions every day and billions of dollars every month.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and managing quantitative data to create meaningful reports to lead business improvement and cost reductions
  • Manage the development of weekly and monthly financial metrics, all planning, forecasting, and reporting models and their continuous innovation and communicating to your Operations and Retail partners
  • Root cause analysis and uncovering core issues using data to drive actions and improvements
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to quantify financial impact of opportunities and risks
  • Communicating verbally and in writing to business customers and leadership team with various levels of technical knowledge, educating them about our systems, as well as sharing insights and recommendations.
  • Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely
A day in the life

This role partners closely with a broad range of global finance and business leaders in Retail and Operations. Partner with Retail and operations teams in negotiations to drive hundreds of millions of incremental profitability through reduced sourcing costs. This role works with research scientists, technical product managers, and software developers. This role designs, develops, and maintains performance measurements and reports on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.

Basic

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, or CPA
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
