D&G is seeking a Joint Exercise Evaluation & Lessons Learned SME to support U.S. Strategic Command training, exercises, and operational events. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating exercise observations, developing after‑action products, and transforming lessons learned into actionable recommendations that improve mission readiness and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate brings experience supporting Combatant Command or Joint Staff operations, understands Joint Training doctrine and evaluation methodologies, and can effectively communicate findings and recommendations to senior military and civilian leadership.
What You Will Do- Understand and demonstrate superior military planning process skills to determine the effectiveness of U.S. operations, activities, and investments in shaping the strategic environment, deterrence theory, strategic deterrence strategy, and disparate ways of evaluating risk.
- Provide joint exercise requirements, after‑action analysis, evaluation, and reporting support for each exercise or real‑world event.
- Support the exercise Collection Management Strategy and Collection Management Plan process and procedures for data collection and observations.
- Provide After Action Review (AAR) observer/trainer personnel support during exercises and other directed events.
- Observe, document, and gather observations and issues during exercises and exercise‑related events. Facilitate AARs and hotwashes during and following exercises or events. Analyze observations, develop actionable issues, and produce reports.
- Prepare validated lessons learned for dissemination.
- Support briefings and written analyses for General/Flag Officers and senior civilian personnel on matters relating to lessons learned and issue resolution. Present clear, concise, and well‑structured oral presentations and written correspondence.
- Vet, disseminate, track, and monitor issues through validation and resolution into future exercise and event life cycles.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Program Manager.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Strategic Studies, International Affairs, Military Studies, Public Policy, or related field preferred; equivalent military operational experience may be substituted.
- 7 years of demonstrated recent experience providing analysis, evaluation, assessment, and lessons learned reporting support.
- Understanding of the requirements outlined in CJCS 3500 series Joint Training documents, SI 508‑3, and SI 509‑1.
- Prior experience working at a Combatant Command (CCMD) and/or Joint Staff.
- Strong communication and briefing skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex findings and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, high‑tempo operational and exercise environments.
Active TS/SCI clearance required. This role is restricted to U.S. person(s) (U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
TravelApproximately 10% CONUS travel.
