Overview
Position Objective:
Provide itinerant speech language pathologist (SLP) services for students with communication disorders, in special and regular education classrooms, from preschool through 12th grade.

- Screen, evaluate, select, and schedule caseload; provide therapy services, including in-class intervention for students with communication disorders.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, peers, other support staff, parents, and the community.
- Adapt the professional role of speech/language pathology to the public schools.
- Develop appropriate Individual Education Programs (IEPs) goals and objectives.
- Reports directly to and is supervised by the Special Education Supervisor
Positions in this class typically require:
- Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of an Educational Staff Associate certificate for speech-language pathologist.
- Master’s degree in speech/language pathology required.
- Experience in working with students with mild, moderate and severe disabilities.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.
- Knowledge of State and school district rules and regulations.
- Skills in assessing students and providing feedback as a member of an evaluation team.
- Skills in programming activities to promote communication interaction objectives.
- Skills in programming based on the developmental level of students and functional skills.
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable board policies and district and legal requirements.
- Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may be exposed to prolonged exposure to visual display terminals as required. Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
This is a general posting for one or more Speech Language Pathologist positions. Positions may be full or part-time and will be filled as specific openings are identified. Salary range: $73,990 to $138,754 annually (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule.
Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience. Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 0.45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
