Position: Audiology Extern PAID Opportunity! Hearing and Balance – Seattle Area

Job Overview

We offer a formal training curriculum within our speech and hearing clinic that comprehensively addresses the patient experience, from hearing evaluations, amplification and counseling techniques for all ages, in addition to balance testing. Dozens of externs from universities across the country have joined Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic for a comprehensive and educational 3rd/4th year. This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced and well‑respected audiologists to advance your skills in seeing patients, but our unique business model will provide you with exposure to Speech Pathology professionals as well.

  • Comprehensive audio logic evaluations
  • Auditory Evoked Potentials
  • Auditory Processing Evaluations
  • Vestibular (VNG, cVEMP/oVEMP, vHIT)
  • Aural Rehabilitation
  • Tinnitus Assessments
  • Newborn Hearing Screenings/Evaluations
  • Hearing Aid Evaluation/Dispensing with Real Ear Measurements
  • Bone conduction device evaluation and fitting
  • Cochlear Implant device evaluation and fitting

Externship Information Practice Setting

Staffing and Training
  • Number of Audiologists at the site: 0 FTE Masters Degree, 5 FTE Au.D., 0 FTE Ph.D., 0 FTE Other Doctorate (ScD), 0 FTE professional support staff (technicians/audiometric assistants), 0 FTE clerical support staff.
  • Number of Audiology Students each year: 0 1st year AuD Clinical Rotations, 0 2nd year, 0 3rd year, 2 4th year Externships.
  • Financial arrangements:
    Other – Please Describe, $2500/month.
  • Will interview travel be compensated? No.
  • Vacation Days: 10.
  • Continuing education opportunities? No.
  • Start Date:

    May/June 2027.
  • Expected hours/days a week: 40hrs.

Clinical Opportunities
  • Everyday:
    Hearing Screenings, Tympanometry, Hearing aids dispensed, Tinnitus rehabilitation.
  • Regularly:
    Pediatric evaluations (infant/toddler), Pediatric evaluations (school‑age), Adult hearing evaluations, Acoustic Reflexes, Auditory processing evaluations, Evoked potential assessments, Otoacoustic emissions, Industrial/hearing conservation, Hearing aid selection/fitting.
  • Never:
    Intra-operative monitoring cases, Cerumen management.
  • Rarely:
    Vestibular assessments, Vestibular rehabilitation, Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized), Cochlear implant evaluations, Cochlear implant rehabilitation, Tinnitus assessments.
