Position SummaryThe Medical Assistant supports providers and the care team by managing patient intake and records, preparing patients for exams and procedures, maintaining accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR), and handling professional phone communications. This role contributes to efficient clinic flow and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately manage and update patient information in the EMR/EHR system; ensure privacy and confidentiality.
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist providers during exams.
- Explain procedures and provide clear pre-procedure and follow-up instructions to patients.
- Handle inbound/outbound phone calls—schedule appointments, triage basic inquiries, and relay messages.
- Collect basic vitals and perform routine clinical tasks per clinic protocols.
- Assist with office workflow, supply restocking, and coordination between clinical and administrative teams.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and documentation standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Proficient with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of outpatient clinical procedures and patient care.
- CMA (AAMA) or RMA certification.
- Prior experience in outpatient clinics or ambulatory care.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical billing basics.
- Customer-service or patient-communication training.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Accurate information organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical environment.
