Talent Manager, Employee Relations
Come join our team as Human Resources Advisor at T&T Supermarket where you will report to the Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Advisor works in partnership with other Human Resources Centre of Excellence teams and provides professional services and advice to the store management in the areas, including but not limited to talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, employee relations, employee engagement, learning and development, and performance management.
The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource‑related issues. The successful Human Resources Advisor acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR‑related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and store management. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value‑added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
T&T Supermarkets is marking over 30 years as Canada’s favorite Asian grocery store and recently announced multiple new store locations in the United States. Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, opened in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and standing as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.
We have established our regional office in the greater Los Angeles area to grow T&T Supermarket’s vendor base with American food suppliers.
- Working closely with the Talent Acquisition team, participate in and administer major activities of the full talent acquisition cycle for the designated stores, from manpower needs to new employee on‑boarding and orientation.
- Working closely with the Employee Relations team, organize/host periodic staff forums, consolidate the staff forum meeting minutes for regional stores/departments and maintain communication amongst all stakeholders, support employee grievance, disciplinary, commendation and no‑show cases handling, deal with workplace health and safety issues including workplace inspection, injury reporting, claim management and return‑to‑work, conduct exit interviews, handle annual programs such as long service award, etc.
- Working closely with the Compensation & Benefits team, support the administration of various employee benefits plans/programs, employee performance review, annual salary review, employee attendance and leave, and provide/verify data required for payroll processing.
- Keep track of and follow up on employee performance evaluation, expiration of contract and work permit, employee movements including transfer, promotion/demotion, pay change, etc.
- Answer employee inquiries relating to human resources related issues; support the filing of benefits claims, requests for Record of Employment, W2, employment certification, etc.
- Maintain proper filing of human resources related documents; support employees and management in using the human resources system for staff management.
- Ensure human resources policies are properly understood and adhered to; provide appropriate guidance and interpretation as and when required; contribute to the improvement of employees and management relationship; help building employee morale.
- Perform any other duties as assigned; participate and support human resources projects.
- A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management, or related disciplines
- At least 3 years of work experience in human resources, experience as a human resources generalist is an advantage.
- Working knowledge in multiple human resources disciplines, such as talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, employee relations, diversity & culture, performance management, etc.; good knowledge with provincial employment legislations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English; knowledge of Chinese highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently and under pressure in fast paced environments
- Good Microsoft Office 365 skills (Words, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint)
