AI Communications Strategist

Job Description

This role provides strategic communications and innovation support to an Information Technology organization focused on AI, modernization, and cross-sector innovation. The consultant supports partnership communications, innovation alignment, and executive-level messaging across internal teams and external collaborators.

The role bridges internal strategy and external innovation efforts. It supports leadership in shaping long-term approaches to AI, innovation readiness, and ecosystem development. Work includes hands‑on writing, planning, and strategic advisory support tied to innovation initiatives, partnerships, and events.

• 7 to 10 years of experience in strategic communications, innovation strategy, or public sector consulting
• Proven experience supporting executive leaders with messaging, planning, and written materials
• Strong background translating complex technical or policy topics into clear communications
• Experience working across multiple stakeholders and partner organizations
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work streams with limited oversight
• Strategic writing and editing
• Communications planning and messaging frameworks
• Stakeholder alignment and coordination
• Executive briefing development
• Event and workshop communications support
• Experience supporting AI, data, or technology modernization initiatives
• Background in public sector, higher education, or regional partnerships
• Familiarity with innovation ecosystems involving government, industry, and academia
• Experience supporting grants, awards, or external recognition efforts
• Comfort working in evolving strategy environments with changing priorities
