About the RoleDatabricks is looking for an experienced commercial attorney to join our commercial legal team, supporting our Canada field team and providing ad‑hoc support to commercialization/integration projects. You will review and negotiate Canadian customer agreements and support Databricks’ revenue‑generating and commercialization activities. You will report to the Sr. Director & AGC, Commercial Legal.
Responsibilities- Revenue Enabler: Become a vital member of the commercial legal team responsible for negotiating enterprise‑level cloud service agreements, ensuring effective risk oversight while enabling rapid revenue growth.
- Strategic Partner: Cultivate strong relationships with the field sales team by providing sound, strategic counsel to close complex sales transactions.
- Policy Architect: Maintain and update legal templates to ensure compliance with evolving provincial and federal laws while supporting global consistency.
- Subject Matter Expert: Serve as a pragmatic business partner, providing legal counsel on Databricks’ technology, product portfolio, and security/compliance architecture, especially as they relate to local compliance standards.
- Cross‑Functional Collaborator: Partner with Finance, Information Security, and Product teams to align and enforce global contracting processes within the context of local business norms.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of technology transaction experience, either at a top‑tier law firm or in‑house at a high‑growth SaaS company.
- Canadian Market Expertise: Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating cloud software sell‑side transactions in Canada, including deep understanding of Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA), public sector, and data residency requirements.
- Tech Savvy: Relevant experience with cloud‑based software, consumption, and commit‑based business models, and the nuances of the quarterly sales cadence.

Proven ability to successfully navigate complex legal issues involving information security, AI, and intellectual property (including open‑source software). - Agility: Ability to prioritize competing demands and remain responsive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; bilingualism (English/French) is considered a significant asset for supporting our Quebec‑based business.

Qualifications:
LL.B. or J.D. from a recognized law school, licensed to practice law, ideally a qualified member in good standing of at least one Canadian Provincial Bar.
Zone 1: $192,100–$264,100 USD
Zone 2: $172,900–$237,700 USD
Zone 3: $163,300–$224,500 USD
