The AMZL Supply Chain organization at Amazon is at the forefront of innovating Last Mile delivery solutions. We are an Operations-focused team dedicated to hiring and managing associates to ensure that packages are delivered as quickly as possible, often on the next day or even same-day service. Our vision is to revolutionize the online shopping experience by achieving ultra-fast delivery at the lowest possible cost, all while significantly scaling our operations.
The Execution and Planning Science-Engineering (EPSE) team, which is an integral part of the NA AMZL Supply Chain, is on a mission to develop world-class automated Science-Tech products. These products aim to facilitate ultra-fast delivery speeds for our customers while creating job opportunities for our associates. We comprise a diverse team of Scientists, Engineers, and Tech leaders who innovate scalable algorithms for automated decision-making within our Operations space.
We are on the lookout for an Applied Scientist who will play a key role in shaping the future of Last Mile associate labor planning. Your work will involve:
- Advising on developing flexible labor planning programs
- Optimizing our supply chain network
- Providing data-driven strategies to enhance cost, reliability, or speed
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating experiments
- Measuring the impact of your initiatives
- Feeding strategic analyses and contributing to production systems
In this role, you will not only design, model, and develop but also implement cutting-edge models and solutions. Regular collaboration with software engineering teams and business leadership will be essential.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications
- PhD or Master s degree and 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Experience in patents or publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar
- Knowledge of algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, and high-performance computing
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux
- Experience in professional software development

The base salary range for this position is as follows:
- New York: $ - $ USD annually
- Bellevue: $ - $ USD annually
