Technology Specialist 2026-27 - Lake Hills/Puesta del Sol

Job DescriptionPOSITION
PURPOSE:
The Technology Specialist supports school‑based technology use by students and staff in support of the district’s instructional initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Sets up and assists with setup of computers and related equipment in an assigned school; loads and upgrades software.
- Configures and installs computers in both stand‑alone and networked environments.
- Conducts first‑line troubleshooting of computers and peripherals for staff and students.
- Maintains building inventory of computers, software, peripherals and related equipment and materials; conducts annual physical inventory and maintains database of inventory and equipment repairs; checks out equipment to staff as needed.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software problems in computer labs and classrooms; arranges for repairs as necessary; performs some hardware maintenance; cleans computers, keyboards, tables and equipment.
- Provides basic computer support to staff and students, including training in basic operational skills as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of hardware and software and makes recommendations as appropriate.
- Serves on school or district technology committees; participates in district‑level training sessions.
- Assists in coordination of school‑wide collection and distribution of student laptops.
- Coordinates and manages the use of technology‑related equipment such as sound and lighting in performing‑art centers or school media venues.
- Provides individual or small‑group training for teachers when necessary.
- Monitors and assigns work to student help desk or tech teams.
- Moves equipment and assists teachers in the setup of equipment.
- Communicates to staff with technology information about new equipment or software.
- Monitors computer use and provides assistance to students with class projects during open class, lunchtime, and before/after school, as directed by certified staff.
- Performs keyboard entry and data entry on a computer.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Reports to and is directly supervised by the Technology Field Supervisor.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCERequired
- High school graduation or equivalent and one year of experience supporting users with computers, peripherals, and software.
- None
- Knowledge of hardware and peripherals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems; printer configuration and general‑purpose software, including word processing, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and communications.
- Knowledge of setup and operation of computers.
- Ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Ability to use or learn a variety of software programs used in classrooms.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate positively with students, staff and parents.
- Ability to work independently with self‑direction.
- Ability to evaluate situations and exercise reasonable judgment.
- Ability to organize materials, workspace and activities.
- Ability to plan and implement a work schedule.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing conditions.
- Experiences frequent interruptions to concentration.
- Frequently performs or tracks multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Occasionally deals with distraught or difficult individuals.
- Required to stand for prolonged periods (30+ minutes).
- Exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.
- Required to discern fine visual detail.
- Requires precise control of fingers and hand movements.
- Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations.
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies, district and legal requirements.
