Position SummaryUniversal Language Service is seeking a full-time Interpreter Education & Support Specialist to coordinate Interpreter Academy activities and provide interpreters with education, onboarding guidance, and administrative support. This position serves as the primary point of contact for Interpreter Academy candidates, interpreters, raters, and customers. The Specialist guides candidates through the complete training and testing process, provides educational resources, troubleshoots access issues, and coordinates Academy-related communications.
The position also helps interpreters understand Universal Language Service systems, services, portal functions, documentation requirements, and profile preferences to improve their overall experience and assignment opportunities.
- Take ownership of the daily coordination and administration of Interpreter Academy.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Academy candidates, interpreters, raters, and customers.
- Guide customers in understanding and using Interpreter Academy services and programs.
- Guide candidates through registration, preparation, assessment scheduling, testing requirements, results, and next steps.
- Manage testing platforms, including Cirrus and ProctorU, and coordinate candidate registrations, assessments, access, and records.
- Provide candidates with training materials, preparation resources, instructions, and testing information.
- Coordinate communications and assessment scheduling among candidates, raters, customers, and testing partners.
- Troubleshoot portal, registration, training, testing, and platform-access issues and coordinate resolutions with internal teams or vendors.
- Maintain accurate candidate, assessment, rater, training, testing, and communication records.
- Track candidate progress, Academy participation, assessment activity, results, and outstanding follow-up needs.
- Support interpreters by providing education on Universal Language Service services, onboarding requirements, portal functions, available resources, and profile preferences to help improve assignment compatibility and opportunities.
- Conduct individual and group sessions with interpreters to provide training, education, and ongoing support.
- Develop, organize, maintain, and distribute interpreter education and training resources.
- Provide clear and patient guidance to interpreters with varying levels of technical experience.
- Ensure Interpreter Academy and interpreter education activities align with applicable national interpreter codes of conduct and professional standards of practice.
- Support Interpreter Accounts with interpreter onboarding, document processing, compliance review, record maintenance, and documentation follow-up.
- Communicate directly with interpreters to answer questions and address missing, incomplete, updated, or expiring documentation.
- Assist with interpreter engagement and limited recruitment activities.
- Collaborate with Management, Compliance, and other departments to support interpreter and business needs.
- Attend virtual and local in-person events as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree or higher in education, training, communications, business administration, or a related field; a relevant training or education certificate; or a high school diploma with relevant training, education, onboarding, or program-coordination experience.
- Minimum two years of experience providing training, education support, administrative coordination, or onboarding.
- Experience conducting individual or group training, educational, or informational sessions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to explain processes clearly and provide patient, professional guidance.
- Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple candidates, deadlines, documents, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and support online portals, testing platforms, and database systems.
- Experience in the interpreting or language-services industry or bilingual or multilingual proficiency.
- Experience supporting candidates through testing, certification, or qualification processes.
- Experience with interpreter onboarding, document processing, or recruitment support.
- Familiarity with learning management systems, testing platforms, or interpreter portals.
- Knowledge of applicable national interpreter codes of conduct and professional standards of practice.
- Full-time, on-site position at the Universal Language Service corporate office in Bellevue, Washington.
- Remote work is not permitted.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time, with flexibility based on business needs.
