This role is onsite at our Bellevue WA office.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations for a portfolio of residential and commercial properties. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulations, and supporting the company’s strategic financial goals. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, and technical accounting skills, particularly within the property management or real estate sector.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger staff.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for multiple properties and entities.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Review and approve journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Develop and monitor accounting policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Provide oversight and support in the preparation and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of resale certificates and demand statements through platforms like , ensuring timely and accurate processing of real estate transactions.
- Liaise with property managers, accountants, and external auditors to address financial and operational issues.
- Maintain internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and software.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Train, develop, and evaluate accounting staff performance to maintain a high-functioning team.
- Support coupon ordering.
- Oversee timely mortgage payments.
- Oversee Delinquency Letters processes.
- Oversee yearend tax payments.
- Oversee 1099 process.
- Oversee new property information is set up correctly in the system.
- Oversee vendor management and W-9 collection.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in property management or real estate accounting is required.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, App Folio, Caliber, MRI, Entrata, or similar platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial analysis tools.
- Familiarity with platforms like for managing resale documentation.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Experience with multi-entity or HOA accounting
